LETS (LAW ENFORCEMENT TACTICAL SYSTEM)
Bar

The Law Enforcement Tactical System (LETS) is a secure web-based search engine that has been designed to provide law enforcement and criminal justice agencies information about individuals and vehicles by searching various databases simultaneously with one query. LETS is an integration mechanism for vehicle, driver, and violation data and even produces photos to aid in positive identification of apprehended or wanted individuals. It was released in mid-January of 2003 and it rapidly became a major tool. It currently has over 850 agencies and over 10,000 users and its success stories are numerous.

The initial goal was to make this system available free of charge to all qualifying agencies over the Internet, and ultimately to officers in the field, through mobile devices used in patrol cars. This goal has been accomplished quite some time ago.

LETS was developed initially through a partnership with the Alabama Department of Public Safety, the Attorney General’s Office, the Alabama Administrative Office of Courts, Southwest Alabama Integrated Criminal Justice System (SAICS) and CARE Research and Development Laboratory (CRDL) at the University of Alabama. LETS is now under the domain of the Alabama Criminal Justice Information Center and continues to improve with new features being added.

LETS is on its third major version release. The latest version has more databases to search, is more powerful, more secure and has much more functionality than previous versions.
